It’s All in a Look

The people of Southern Italy and Sicily look a lot like the people in Rochester. I’m amazed even though I full well know that it was these areas where many Italian immigrants came from. I enjoy looking around and seeing the beautiful people. People watching here is fun, no doubt! Some of the differences you’ll notice in Southern Italy is the people have darker skin, darker hair, and look like the stereotypical Italian you’d probably imagine. The Northerners don’t have as dark of skin, their hair is generally lighter in color and many have light eyes.

Are there many red-heads in Italy? Northern Italy perhaps where people are lighter skinned/haired? Have you seen any other red-heads? I know you mentioned that you really stood out in the last town where you were…

Yes, I have seen other red heads. They’re not very common to see but they do exist. I’ve seen them in both the North and South. I did stand out a lot in the other place because there were fewer people around, so a red head really stands out there. Here there are other things to look at besides the red head walking down the street so it’s not as bad.
